PlayStation 4 quietly fades away as studio cancels PS4 release to focus on PS5

As much as it pains me to say it, the PlayStation 4 is getting kind of old now, folks. This November, Sony’s last-gen console will be an entire decade old, and that’s starting to show with the amount of games that are still releasing for it.

Take a look at the trailer forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2below.

Now, we’ve just been given another unfortunate reminder that the PS4 just isn’t cutting it for some developers anymore. TeamKill Media, the developer behind the cosmic-horror FPSQuantum Error, has now confirmed that the game is no longer releasing on Sony’s last-gen console.

“Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the PS4 version ofQE,” the devs tweeted. “Even with the game being made from the beginning for thePS5, we still had hopes we could make a PS4 version happen, but with the level of quality we have achieved withQEwith gameplay running at 60fps, we have [reached] the conclusion that there is no way for us to deliver a version on PS4 that would live up to what the PS5 is going to deliver.

“A PS4 version would require too much downgrading and changing of assets, lighting and much more to function, and with the difference in memory and the slower HDD speed, it would be a very different experience that will not compare to the PS5 version and would not be fair to PS4 players.”

There’s currently no scheduled release date forQuantum Error.
