PlayStation 5 price increase leaves gamers furious

At this stage, it’s well known that Sony’s PlayStation 5 is the latter half of its life cycle.

This wasn’t exactly news to us even when Sony announced the fact.

A quick look atPlayStation’s launch history will reveal that most consoles tend to reign for six to seven years.

With that in mind, the PlayStation 6 could be on the way in 2026 or 2027.

We’ve still got a few years to go before then and clearly, Sony isn’t done with thePlayStation 5just yet.

Plenty of major titles are on the way, including the long-awaitedDeath Stranding2: On The Beach, due to launch next year.

It’s also rumoured that a PlayStation 5 Pro will be announced very soon.

Insiders have been whispering about the console for quite some time with the main theory now being that it’ll be unveiled in a State of Play event in September.

Of course, do take that information with a pinch of salt.

With all of this in mind, the PlayStation 5 certainly isn’t beginning to wind down yet but it’s not doing the opposite either.

You can understand then why some fans are outraged that the console has just increased in price in some territories.

PlayStation 5 exclusiveAstro Botlaunches very soon on 6 September.

PlayStation fans in Japan will now have to fork out even more money if they want to get their hands on the console.

The price increase will come into effect on 2 September and affects a number of pieces of hardware.

DualSense Wireless Controllers will now cost 9,480 yen instead of 11,480 yen, and the PlayStation VR2 headset will cost 74,980 yen, up from 89,980 yen.

You’d expect a price decrease at this stage, not the opposite.

If you don’t though, this certainly won’t be welcomed news.
