The PlayStation 5 is getting a price-hike in Japan, whichmightsee its way into other parts of the world as well.
If it does it’d be a bit of a silly move fromSony, as new-gen consoles are already pricey even without an unnecessary price-hike,andwith all the discourse around how few exclusives thePlayStation5 actually has.
One such exclusive isAstro Bot, a title I simply can’t wait for as it looks joyous, check out the trailer below

In Japan the price of a disc model PS5 will now cost 79,980 yen, whereas the digital version will cost 72,980 yen. This marks a +60% and +83% price increase for each version console respectively
Whether this is telling of what’ll happen overseas is another question, but in all likelihood it isn’t very likely.
What it does mean isXboxcould get slightly more popular in Japan, as the American platform has always lagged behind given Sony andNintendoare the supreme brands.
As for those living in the UK, US and other parts of the world, you should hopefully be fine, and even if the price does increase there’ll still be plenty of deals to take advantage of to get a console on the cheap.

Personally if you don’t own a new-gen PlayStation yet and are thinking of getting one I’d wait until the PS5 Pro gets announced, the specs get shown off, and a release date has been confirmed.
It’ll definitely be a more-powerful console and while it’ll probably be more expensive than the base model, it’ll likely be worth it if you’re serious about gaming.
