Rumour has it that a pro version of Sony’s console is on the horizon and the details circulating right now offer a glimpse into what this upgrade could look like. As beingreported on Redditit seems the new console would be kitted out with aneight-core Zen 2 CPU running in the 4GHzrange,60 compute units RDNA 3 custom GPU running at 2500-2800MHz, and16GB GDDR6 memory.

Reactions to the specs are mixed withone Redditor sayingthe “CPU upgrade might not even be worth talking about” while others are pondering how the Ray Tracing improvements will fair given the jump in GPU power and the fact that many games will soon start targeting Ray Pathing, much likeCyberpunk 2077on PC.
One user, u/BurnItFromOrbit,makes a great pointabout the upgrade “It’s not going to be the 240% increase in performance from the PS4 to the PS4 Pro. It’s likely to be in the 10% to 40% range depending on the use case.” For many players this upgrade will allow them to play games at 4K much more consistently, while still enabling Ray Tracing. It’s likely the Pro console would mean more games offering 60fps with all the bells and whistles turned on, rather than having to choose between performance and quality modes.
While some are critical of the actual boost games would see, the fact that the console could truly take advantage of this new-gen range of graphical updates, is pretty stellar for most users.
