
Sony just announced that one specific game will be getting an 8K, 60fps upgrade on thePlayStation 5 Pro… and basically nobody noticed.
Shuichi Takano, Main Programmer at developer Polyphony Digital, specified that “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution” will allowGran Turismo 7to achieve “even more detail and higher image quality than ever before” and also noted that they are “now able to support ray tracing during races, which was previously impossible”.

“Furthermore,” he continued, “Gran Turismo 7 will feature experimental support for 8K/60fps output*. Players will be able to see the precisely modeled cars and tracks in unprecedented detail and clarity, with a breathtaking sense of presence.”
“Thanks to these cutting edge developments, Gran Turismo 7 will be able to provide more exciting and visually stunning race experiences than was previously possible.”
This is kind of par for the course as far asGran Turismogoes, as the series has always been pretty ahead of the curve when it comes to graphical enhancements on home consoles.

Gran Turismo 4wasone of the first gamesto ever receive 1080i support, all the way back in 2004 on the PlayStation 2.
The blog post also stated that several other titles will be getting PS5 Pro specific upgrades, such asDemon’s Souls, Stellar Blade, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Final Fantasy VII RebirthandMarvel’s Spider-Man 2,but as of nowGran Turismo 7is the only one confirmed to be getting some form of 8K upgrade.
