PlayStation 5 surprise update offers us a substantial graphics boost

Sony has been quick to improve the quality of one of their best games of 2024. Fans, who noticed some patchy visuals in the latest Sony blockbuster, should now be much happier after a patch has dropped to give these visuals the shot in the arm they desperately needed.

I’m talking about youFinal Fantasy VII Rebirth, with your weird muddy visuals and muted colours. You look so gorgeous when we visit Gold Saucer, or catch glimpses of the colourful lifestream, but when running through the wilds, you were not looking your best.

While I haven’t had the chance to venture back and test this out, it’s good to see a few touches for the visuals. In my review, I expressed a love for the look and style of the game and I played in quality mode for my 60-hour playthrough. While I didn’t notice a huge hit on the visuals, it’s nice to see Square Enix listening to the community, especially as they’ve tightened up the framerates.

When fighting inFinal Fantasy VII Rebirththe action is pretty fast-paced and chaotic, and when there are a number of enemies leaping around and unleashing magical attacks, you don’t want a dip in the frames. Nor do you want those magical effects to look washed out when thePlayStation 5can deliver stunning colours and particle effects. The patch is available now and should improve your already brilliant experience.
