
Although Sony has no plans for any new entries in its “major” franchises this year, we may still see a less high-profile IP make a return for a sequel.

“We already knowRise of the Roninis coming, we know thatConcord, one of the live service games, is scheduled to come out this year. That’s the stuff that’s scheduled for sure,” hesaid. “And then it’s like, there might be new game entries in franchises that already exist, they just might not be major in PlayStation’s eyes when they’re talking to investors. They saidGod of War, they saidSpider-Man, these are the franchises that sell 15 million copies lifetime or more.”
However, it seems like one underdog title may be making a return in 2024. “I’ve heard maybeAstrodoes happen this year, so if that happens, that’s pretty big for me,” Grubb said. “I get why Sony’s not thinking that’s a major one for us, at least not yet, hopefully they could turn it into a major one and then a lot of this changes around.”
The 3D platformer,Astro’s Playroomwas released in 2020 and came pre-loaded on everyPlayStation 5and marked the most recent entry in the series. Before then,Astro Bot: Rescue Missionwas released in 2018 for the PlayStation VR. With a substantial fanbase, it will be interesting to see if the rumours for 2024 turn out to be true.
