These documents actually come from Microsoft, of all places, and they point to the PlayStation 6 targeting the year 2028 for release.

Now, it’s worth noting that this was a speculative estimate on Microsoft’s part as they planned their own Xbox successor to come out around then.

So, 2028 may indeed be the year for both consoles to launch - if indeedMicrosoftstill plans on making Xbox hardware.

With the release of thePlayStation 5 Proconsole, it’s clear that Sony wants players to experience their games in the best way possible.

The company did the very same thing during the lifespan of the PlayStation 4, however the Pro version of that console came a year earlier in the lifecycle.

This points to this console generation stretching out slightly longer than the last, which makes sense as progress in visual and processing capabilities are much more incremental nowadays.

So, if we take Microsoft’s estimate and add on a year for the later arrival of a Pro machine, we could see thePlayStation 6launching in 2029.

This might give you a sigh of relief, or at least your wallet, because that’s going to be a pricey machine.

This is all speculation, but given that Microsoft will have industry experts working on these predictions after analysing trends, we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in the right area.
