PlayStation adding 11 free games for you to play over Christmas

In case you missed it, PlayStation has unveiled its latest batch of free game additions to its PlayStation Plus extra tier catalogue.

I’ve seen mixed reactions to the month’s offerings, but I happen to think it’s a pretty good batch.

Yes, there was no highly coveted first-party exclusive leading the pack - I’m aware that many subscribers were hoping for aGod of WarRagnarökdrop - but there are other benefits to this month’s offerings.

You see, several of the big names that’ll soon be landing on the extra tier launched to mixed responses.

So without further ado, allow me to fill you in on the 11 games that’ll be joining the extra tier on 17 December.

Let’s start with the duo that demonstrate precisely what I’ve just explained,Sonic FrontiersandForspoken.

Take a look atSonic Frontiersin action below.

Sonic Frontierssecured a Metacritic score of 70 upon release, whileForspokentrailed behind at 64.

Contrary to what the internet might tell you, that doesn’t make either title a bad game. They did not receive wholly negative reviews.

Instead, the reviews were ‘mixed’ or ‘average’, with both games landing with certain reviewers more than others.

Their inclusion on PlayStation Plus means you can finally try both out for free with nothing to lose, except time I suppose.

In fact, on occasion, poorly received games at launch sometimes find a renewed sense of appreciation from players when added to services like this when the launch drama has died down.

We saw that happen withDays Gone.

Also joining the extra tier isA Space for the Unbound, Biped, Coffee Talk, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, Jurassic World Evolution 2, PHOGS, Rabbids: Party of Legends, andWRC Generations.

All in all, there’s plenty to keep us busy with the extra games landing on 17 December.
