PlayStation classic is seemingly getting a film adaptation

In this day and age, PlayStation is more than just about video games, though that is of course its main source of income.

For countless years, we had some really bad video game-to-movieadaptations. Some of those entering the hall of shame includeAlone in the Dark,House of the Dead, andSilent Hill: Revelation(2012) to name but a few.

Oh andResident Evil, I’ve not let you off the hook either. Speaking of which, there is a promising Resident Evil-inspiredfan moviethat might be worth checking out calledA Keeper’s Diary: A Biohazard Storystarring the original Chris Redfield, Charlie Kraslavsky. Anyway, let’s get back on point.

Thankfully, in recent years video game movie adaptations, at least on a big-budget scale, appear to have turned a corner with the likes ofSonic the Hedgehog,Detective Pikachu,Silent Hill(2006) and more leading the way. Of course, HBO’sThe Last of UsTV series also gets a notable mention.

Following on from theUnchartedmovieof 2022 starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Sony wants to make more money from that adaptation movie pie with its production company PlayStation Productions. Throughout its rich back catalogue, Sony has a wealth of popular IPs that could make for fantastic movies.

One such IP is the classic MediEvil series that began its life on the originalPlayStationwhich also benefited from a remake on PS4 in 2019. So, why do we believe that a MediEvil movie could be on the way? Officially, we don’t know for sure. That being said, an eagle-eyed fan was browsing the PlayStation Productions website until they noticed a pair of legs in a video that looked suspiciously like Sir Daniel Fortesque, the undead hero of the series.

If there is truth to this rumour, Sony might officially announce the news in the coming months and perhaps, a PlayStation Showcase event could be an ideal destination for such a spooktacular reveal.
