The potential of this new series fromNaughty Dogwas clear to see. Motion controls aside,Drake’s Fortune’saction was fun and high-octane. It looked gorgeous, had a compelling story, and, above all else, introduced us to the wise-cracking but charming Nathan Drake.

Naughty Dog would successfully build upon the foundations thatDrake’s Fortunehad set and raised the bar tenfold with two epic sequels for the PS3 withUncharted: Among ThievesandDrake’s Deceptionin 2009 and 2011, respectively.

Just like Naughty Dog had done withThe Last of Usin 2013, the Uncharted series on PS3 had no right to look as good as it did. When fans thought the series couldn’t get any better, it was re-released as a remastered collection on PS4 in 2015.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collectiongave each of the three games a big visual and performance boost, and Bluepoint Games who handled the remasters, even went as far as removing those pesky motion controls from the original game.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collectionis backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and if for whatever reason you’ve never treated yourself to this series, it’s included in the PS Plus Premium tier at no extra cost. However, if you don’t subscribe to PS Plus, it’s often discounted from its already reasonable £15.99 RRP.

This week, we saw the release of the long-awaited PlayStation 5 Pro which gives current-gen games an even greater visual and performance boost, especially when it comes to ray-tracing effects for supported games. While the quality may vary with each title, PS4 games can also benefit from a tidy enhancement.

A screenshot shared shows a decent level of improvement to the anti-aliasing and sharper images on textures, all thanks to the PS5 Pro’s PSSR upscaling feature. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t recommend buying a PS5 Pro for subtle improvements to PS4 games, but it’s a nice and unexpected bonus nonetheless.
