Xbox fanshaven’t taken the news well, with some even starting tosell their consoles in protest. The head of Xbox. Phil Spencer, has commented on the outrage, saying it will be addressed in the near future.

If the rumours are true it’d mean the end of console wars as we know them, as PlayStation’s main competition has always been Xbox, with Nintendo just sort of chilling in the background doing its own thing. That said, a PlayStation developer, Robert Morrison, has come forward to say the lack of competition won’t mean first-party games will see a dip in quality. Morrison previously worked as an animator for Days Gone.

PlayStation’s first-party offerings have always been some of the best in the business, with the likes ofGod Of War,The Last Of UsandMarvel’s Spider-Manleading the charge for narrative-driven masterpieces that are also incredibly fun to play.

Hopefully a lack of competition from Xbox won’t lead to the company becoming complacent in its mission to push the boundaries of gaming.
