PlayStation fans furious as Sony finally admits to major system outage

PlayStation Stars has been down for around two weeks with no sign of when it might return but Sony has at least acknowledged that there is an issue and a fix is being worked on.

Sony launched itsPlayStation Starsrewards program in 2022 which rewards players with points that can be redeemed against free credit on the PS Store, free video games including the likes ofStellar BladeandRise of the Roninas well as digital collectables that can be showcased on your mobile app.

Sony launched new PS Stars campaigns around itsDays of Playpromotion earlier this month, a promotion that offers loads of discounts not only on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct but also on participating third-party retailers. The Days of Play event was a double bonus for PS Stars members because they could claim discounts on games and also claim reward points, or at least, that was the idea.

Since PS Stars has been down for a couple of weeks (believed to be 5 June),Sonyhasn’t explained the issue with players feeling left in the dark. The PS Stars function was temporarily removed from the PlayStation mobile app but it has recently returned.

It will be interesting to see how Sony addresses the issue once PS Stars is back live. Will it re-release the Days of Play campaigns or gift members with free reward points to make up for lost time?

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear of an update on the return of PlayStation Stars.
