Killzone has lain dormant for over a decade, so it’s hardly a thriving IP.
And with that in mind, it hasn’t come as a total shock thatGuerrilla Gameshas now provided confirmation that they’re done with the franchise.
Just because the news isn’t shocking though, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.

You see, Killzone may not be thriving but it could be - and that’s what makes this news so sad.
There are plenty of stellar cross-platform shooters out there, andXbox, of course, hasHaloas its flagship FPS franchise.
PlayStationthough, it doesn’t really have a defining IP in that race.
Both Resistance and Killzone have been touted as potential series that could be revived to become that, but if Killzone is ever to return, it certainly won’t be with Guerrilla Games at the helm.

Beyond that, it’s believed that a third and final Horizon instalment is in the works alongside a multiplayer project.

Developers are busy - too busy to consider returning to Killzone, especially as Horizon has catapulted the studio to a stratospheric level of success.
Still, we could see Killzone shipped to another studio.
Ballistic Moon has just handled theUntil Dawnremake, for example, instead of Supermassive Games.
For now though, we’ll just have to think back fondly on those epic Killzone memories.
