However, according to a series of events which took place a few years back, many fans may not know that PlayStation may have officially confirmed Kratos’ full name.
Safe to say, it is not what you may expect.
The bizarre turn of events took place after Guardian video game reporter Keza MacDonald shared a marketing email that she had received mentioning Kratos.
In the email, the sender wrote, “The game follows John Kratos as he delves into a fantasy world of dragons and monsters."

We can assume that this person has never played a God of War title before but it was no surprise that an email as humorous as this soon went viral on social media.
As a result, the officialPlayStationTwitter account got involved and sent out a Tweetsaying, “John Kratos is my head canon now”.
However, with no confirmation of a real name, many fans have decided that John Kratos must be the truth.

One user over on r/GodofWarRagnarok was not happy, saying, “That’s bull**it, nobody in Ancient Greece is named John.”
However, they were soon met with a swift reply.
“John is a translation for Ioannis and believe me, it’s a very common name in Ancient Greece.”
So it may not be as far-fetched as we first thought.
