One PlayStation user has unfortunately had their PSN username blocked after several years of using it without issue in what is somewhat of a head scratcher.
As I’m sure you’re aware, usernames across console platforms are monitored and censored where necessary.
It makes perfect sense. Prohibiting profanities or slurs promotes a safe community, which is what we all want to experience whilst gaming.

That being said, many think thatPlayStationmay have taken such censorship a tad too far with this latest case.
Rise of the Roninlands on PlayStation on 22 March. Take a look at our video preview below.
It’s Reddit user Hour_Highlight8110 who is at the centre of this debacle.

It’s a tricky one. I think we’re all aware that the issue here is pollocks looks and sounds like another word beginning with ‘b’ which is clearly the joke that Hour_Highlight8110 was going for.
He didn’t say the word though, and it is kind of funny.
“No. That is dumb that it’s censored. I was expecting something waaaay more profane,”repliedone user, garnering over 1,200 upvotes.

Other users shared their own bizarre experiences of censorship: “I got censored as Diabetus ignoring the fact that I myself am diabetic,”wrotesportsdothestuff.
There was also a pretty large number of commenters sharing usernames which very much did deserve to get censored, none of which I shall be repeating.
You can perhaps understand why PlayStation might want to be proactive with usernames and with that in mind, I suppose it’s understandable that every now and then, a few rulings might seem a bit harsh.
At the end of the day though, thedogspollocks’s account remains largely unchanged except for those censorship stars.
