PlayStation gamers surprised with ‘definitive’ free download you can claim now

Last year was an unprecedented one when it comes to the quality of the games released.

I’m not sure we’ve ever had a year packed with so many back-to-back bangers.

It was hard to even narrow down the Game of the Year nominees, let alone pick an eventual winner.

In ourreviewof the game, GAMINGbible’s Ewan awarded a score of nine, writing, “Sea Of Starsmay come across to some as little more than a tribute act to the classics, but I hold no truck with such sniffy dismissiveness. […] Sabotage Studios has created an unforgettable, essential RPG that stands on the shoulders of giants and boldly looks ahead to the future.”

Well, we’re actually now in that future Ewan spoke of last year - and Sabotage Studios is still hard at work supportingSea of Stars, with the game’s freeDawn of Equinoxupdate landing this week.

TheDawn of Equinoxupdate is available across all relevant platforms, including for users onPlayStation.

Sea of Starsis a must-play gem, particularly if you’re a fan of old-school RPGs.

Essentially, devs set out to restore corners they had to cut while initially creating the game in order to get it over the finish line.

There are new relics, and ‘Sticky Combo Points’ have been introduced during combat.

Basically, combo points will now carry over into the next fight, allowing you to vary your opening move in combat encounters.

‘Mystery Locks’ have also been added.

This means that any new enemy casting a spell will display ‘Mystery Locks’ instead of specific damage types so the player is forced to experiment with moves in order to work out how to break the spell.

Three-player couch co-op is also now available, and there’s plenty else lying inSea of Stars’ future.

The freeThroes of the WatchmakerDLC is set to launch in spring 2025.

For now though, definitely update your copy of the game if you have it!
