PlayStation gamers urged to use their free store credit before it expires

PlayStation gamers have been urged to spend their free points ASAP before they expire.

In 2022,Sony launched its PlayStation Starsrewards scheme which gives players points for completing easy campaigns that may require you to play selectPS Plustitles, and earn certain in-game trophies or simply spend money on thePlayStationStore.

You can even choose to purchase £5 or £20 free store credit to spend how you please on the PlayStation Store.

Granted, it may take you a while to accumulate enough points to acquire £20 store credit or a major AAA release but with a little patience and persistence, you’ll get there eventually.

“I was unaware that PlayStation Stars points expired at the end of the calendar year,” they revealed on the thread to fellow members.

However, while the points do indeed expire, they don’t expire after 12 months, instead, they will expire after 24 months,as detailedin a PlayStation.com FAQ.

“Points earned will expire at the end of the month plus 24 months from the date on which they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance,” it reads.

While we do have plenty of time to spend our PlayStation Stars points, it’s worth keeping an eye on when you acquired them, because it would be heartbreaking to lose loads of points like Reddit user H3artlessnobody91.

“I can confirm that once your status resets, so do your points because in September, I had 5,679 points and now I lost all my points and I’m back at zero.

So if there’s a lesson learned here, don’t forget to check the status of your reward points and spend them before they expire, even if it means buying a digital collectable or £5 store credit, because it’s better than nothing.
