Despite the sun slowly setting on thePlayStation 4, Sony is keeping owners happy with continued support for the console. Launching alongside a PS5 console update is the 11.00 PS4 System Software Update, which brings with it a handy feature seen on the latest generation Sony console.

Leading the update is the ability to sign into a PS4 or PS4 Pro without a password, using instead, a QR code through the PlayStation app. This feature has been available on PS5 for a while, but it’s nice to see Sony bringing more supporting features to their previous console.

It’s not just PS App sign in; players can now see emoji reactions to messages, and messaging has been improved “on some screens”. Let’s be honest, we all love to throw in the odd laughing emoji into our messages.

It’s hard to know how long support for the PS4 will continue given the PS5 is almost three years old and takes precedent. Even these small updates go some way to showing the community that the developer still has the console in mind.
