One of the benefits of subscribing toPlayStation Plus, at least to the Premium tier, is the offer of being able to trial games. These trials which are basically fancy playable demos can range from less than an hour to five hours of playtime. During that time, you can unlock trophies and your progress will carry over should you decide to purchase the full game.

Recently, two of the most talked about RPGs of 2023 joined the PlayStation Plus Premium trials, one of which is the aforementionedBaldur’s Gate 3. The other isThe Lord of the Rings: Gollumfrom Daedalic Entertainment. Both games are certainly conflicting in quality with one being a Game of the Year contender and the other being theworst Game of the Year contender.
So if you want to see what all the fuss is about in regards to the popular RPG from Larian Studios, you can playBaldur’s Gate 3for free (within the price of your subscription) thanks to its two-hour PS Plus trial. If for whatever reason you want to punish yourself, you can also playThe Lord of the Rings: Gollumfor an hour. Honestly, morbid curiosity compels me to play theGollumtrial. I guess I just hate myself.
It’s great to seeBaldur’s Gate 3being offered in a trial because the constant accolades and praise would be enough to persuade many gamers to pick up this RPG. As forThe Lord of the Rings: Gollum, I’d be shocked if the hour-trial resulted in any purchases unless you wanted to send a gift to your worst enemy.
Baldur’s Gate 3is out now on PC and PlayStation 5 with its Xbox Series X|S release expected to arrive next month. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
