
In a somewhat unsurprising turn of events, it seems like Sony is set to abandon a fairly new piece of hardware after a rough sales period.
Released in February last year and despite only just celebrating its one-year anniversary, it seems like thePlayStationVR2 headset is reaching the end of its lifespan already.

Despite being an impressive VR headset that boasts titles such asResident Evil Village,HorizonCall of the MountainandGran Turismo7,Sony’s post-release support has been non-existent for the hardware and as a result, its sales have been rough over recent months.

Although there are reportedly two games currently in development for thePlayStation VR2, this very well might be the last.
This is perhaps unsurprising considering Sony has not made any big announcements for the VR2 since its launch. However, it is not all doom and gloom as owners will still have access to 200 titles from the library and third-party publishers may still release some exciting titles for the VR headset.
However, it seems as though Sony has no further plans for the hardware, especially considering its first-party London Studio was shut down earlier this year. Known for creating some of the biggest titles for the PSVR, this was a massive loss to the industry.

It is a sad time for owners of the PlayStation VR2 as many future releases are most likely to be cross-platform with the PC and Meta Quest. However, if you already own the hardware, it’s worth getting stuck into its vast library just so it doesn’t go to waste.
