It should come as no surprise that Sony is already planning its next PlayStation console but it seems, the tech giant is planning for several new consoles ahead from now.
The original version of thePlayStation 5console was released in 2020 and since that time we’ve been blessed with some fantastic first-party titles including the likes ofRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart,Horizon Forbidden West,God of War Ragnarök, theDemon’s Soulsremake and more.

Then in 2023, Sony released a smaller revised version of thePlayStation5 and now it seems that the heavily rumouredPS5 Procould be next. It’s expected that the PlayStation 5 Pro could be released as early as this year and will likely boost an improved resolution and performance as well as other fancy bells and whistles.

It should come as no surprise that Sony is planning as far ahead as the PlayStation 10. After all, how much of a mess would it be if some random person had trademarked PS10 and Sony then had to buy the rights from that person?
So registering the trademarks decades ahead of time protects Sony in the long term when it comes to naming future consoles. That being said, just because Sony has registered these trademarks, doesn’t necessarily mean that those names are guaranteed (as likely as it would be).
At least for the more immediate future, when can we expect to see the PlayStation 6? Sony hasn’t made an announcement but we may be waiting a few more years at least.
