This week, Sony will be rolling out a new update for PlayStation consoles that will make a small but very helpful improvement.
Sometimes, it’s not always required for an update to make massive changes because it can be the smallest of improvements that are the best, especially when it comes to spending our hard-earned money. One such update is coming toPlayStation 5andPlayStation 4on Thursday, 12 September.

In some respect, having the Auto-Add Funds option active was helpful but at the same time, it was inconvenient to have funds added in blocks of £10 or £20 etc. For example, this potentially left change remaining in your wallet that you may not have wanted following payment of £6.99 for a monthly PS Plus subscription.
What’s more, if you did not have the Auto-Add Funds option active and did not have the necessary funds in your wallet, your PS Plus subscription would be cancelled and you’d have to set it back up.
From this Thursday, if you don’t have funds in your PSN wallet, the payment will be charged to your default bank or credit card. That being said, you can still use funds in your wallet if you choose but at least now, auto-renew subscriptions won’t be cancelled if you don’t have wallet funds.
“If you are happy with your subscription, you do not need to do anything – we will continue to fund purchases from your default payment method when you don’t have enough funds in your wallet to complete a purchase,” reads an email from Sony, sent out to customers.
