It’s been a relatively quiet year for PlayStation first party exclusives.
That was somewhat to be expected.
God of WarRagnarök,Horizon Forbidden West, andMarvel’s Spider-Man2all landed in recent years which rules out several major IPs from appearing again for quite some time.

We haven’t particularly had much in the way of announcements either.
Sucker Punch, for example, has been cooking up something since the launch ofGhost Tsushimafour years ago.
While that’s believed to be a sequel to the game, we don’t actually know.
We’re in a period of time where not only do we not have many concrete launches to look ahead to, nor do we even have any idea about what’s coming.

Thankfully, after what has been a quiet year, a familiar little Bot is on his way to spice things up.
Yes, next week,PlayStation 5fans will be able to jump into the long-awaitedAstro Bot.

Following on fromAstro’s Playroom, a free tech demo-style game pre-installed on every PlayStation 5,Astro Botwill once again see the lovable little bot thrust on a platforming adventure.

On his travels, Astro will stumble across many nods to PlayStation’s vast history, from hardware to IPs.
In fact, it was just confirmed that abeloved PlayStation 1 icon will be returning.
To unlock the Platinum trophy inAstro Bot,you’ll need to rescue every bot, find all puzzle pieces, earn 150 prizes from the Gacha Lab, and perform a number of select tasks.

If you do that, you’ll be rewarded with the Platinum which comes with a very juicy tagline.
“Earned all Trophies. Well done and see you in Astro’s next adventure,” it reads.
That certainly sounds like this won’t be the last we see of Astro.
In fact,Astro’s Playroom’s final trophy said something very similar so the confirmed existence ofAstro Botitself was sitting under our noses this whole time.

Naturally, this isn’t quite the same as an official announcement from Sony but it’s nice to see that Team Asobi is committed to bringing more Astro to our consoles, because that’s exactly what we want.
