Pokémon fans hyped over massive new open-world MMORPG

Pokémon fans are hyped for an upcoming game that could feature the biggest open-world in the series to date.

Recently, the developer of thePokémongames, Game Freak, have fallen victim to an unfortunate data breach that reportedly contained details on theNintendo Switch 2and even news on the movie,Detective Pikachu 2.

The most recent games in the series to be released isPokémon ScarletandVioletin 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

In ourreview ofPokémon Scarlet, we said: “Pokémon Scarlet and Violethave finally delivered on the promise of an open-world entry, but with all the technical issues and stripped-back features, it’s hard to not feel like the Nintendo Switch held these games back.”

We know thatPokémon Legends: Z-Ais on the way and it is expected to be released on theNintendoSwitch in 2025. However, the data breach also contained information on yet-to-be-announced projects such as an MMORPG Pokémon game.

“Leaked multiplayer game will be an MMO,”saida Redditor kicking off a discussion on the thread. “Switch’s are going to explode,” replied mlodydziad420, suggesting that the current console won’t be able to handle a Pokémon game of this magnitude.

“The dream!” exclaimed an excited Sykes.

“NewPokémon Stadiumtype of games, maybe?” suggested Destinyrider13 with aKgiants91 adding “MMOPokémon Stadiumwouldn’t be bad. It could have monthly rank tournaments.”

These unconfirmed rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. What’s more, if this MMORPG from Game Freak is real, there’s no guarantee that will be a Pokémon game.
