I think most of us can probably agree that Pokémon Gold and Silver remain the absolute pinnacle of the franchise after all this time.
And that’s before we even get into the fact you can go back to Kanto and challenge all the gyms from the original game - somethingno other Pokémon adventure has done since.

Yep, Johto will always have a place in our hearts, which is why it’s no surprise fans are head over heels in love with a stunning fan remake of the classicNintendogames.
YouTuber and pixel artist Dott has created a staggeringly pretty recreation of Johto using Unreal Engine 5, that you can see below.

“It’s fan projects like this that really make me wish Pokémon did some more experimental art styles for games,” one commenter wrote.
Another added: “This genuinely seems like a natural evolution from the DS games, just as it should have been. It looks so mesmerising.”
It’s very unlikely we’ll be headed back to Johto anytime soon, unfortunately, and even if we ever did it would almost certainly not look like it does in Dott’s impressive concept.
For now, we’ll have to remain content with the excellentHeart GoldandSoul Silverremakes on DS. That’s if you can track a copy down for less than £180 quid, of course.
