Rainbow Six Siege sequel shut down, devs say game can last ‘forever’

It’s very hard to create a game that is timeless. It’s not impossible, I should add, but it’s no simple task.

Technology advances quickly. A game that you think looks stunning can look ‘outdated’ just a few years later. It takes a truly exceptional vision to transcend those limitations but every now and then, a game does indeed come along that you just know will continue to find fans, regardless of what year we find ourselves in.Skyrim,Super MarioBros,Tetris, andJourneyall spring to mind as relevant examples. Would you throwTom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siegeon that pile? It’s a tough sell if you ask me, but developers are convinced that the game can “last forever”.

Take a look at the game in action below.

He went on to compare making a sequel to a live-service game to redoing your homework: “It can be really frustrating, really costly, and in the end, it doesn’t even give you anything that was a benefit.” He added, “We really do know that this is a game that can last forever with the people and the talent and the tools that we have today." It’s a bold vision, but one that’s to be respected if it can be fulfilled.
