After giving a short sermon the leader asks his friends to follow him, before they all leap off the cliffs to their deaths, which the player can join in with if they choose to.

Reddit user PotatoCase shared aclipof encountering the cult while they’re getting ready for their swan dive of demise.
Instead of approaching, the player stayed far back and sniped the leader, which with most groups of NPCs would cause them to panic and flee the scene as quickly as possible.

However when the cult leader died, the rest of them seemingly treated it as the starting pistol in an Olympic race, as they charged off the cliff as fast as they could even though their leader hadn’t done it first.
One commenter was very disturbed, saying, “It’s almost like they knew what to do in such a scenario,” with another replying, “After doing multiple tests, it is damn near impossible to stop them from dying.”
