Red Dead Redemption mod adds brand-new mode for a completely new experience

The first Red Dead Redemption game is a completely different experience when it’s played in first-person mode.

WhileRed Dead Redemption 2surpassed it on almost every level, the firstRed Dead Redemptiongame had a charm to it that can’t be ignored.

No wonder fans were excited to see it finally return with a remaster so many years later

The modern console version of the game could have been better though, as it was more of a touch-up than the fully-fledged remaster/remake we’d dreamed of.

First-person mode was a given inRed Dead Redemption 2asGTA Vhad it previously, but no such option was added in the modern port of the first Red Dead game.

You can try the new mode for free via NexusMods, and while it’s not as flawless asRockstar Games’version it works quite well and offers a unique way to play we didn’t have before.

It at least makes horse riding and gun fights more exciting, and it’d be an absolute game changer for theUndead Nightmare modewhich is in dire need of a comeback at some point in the future.

If Rockstar Games ever does decide to return to Red Dead Redemption for a remake, it needs to add an official first-person mode to the game.

It could also do with an expansion or two to bring the map size up toRed Dead Redemption 2’sstandards…

Red Dead Redemptionis still a fantastic game, and it’s well-worth another playthrough if it’s been a while, even more so if it’s your first time playing. It’s also technically a sequel to the second game so if you started with that one that should be next on your list.
