Needless to say, fans have made their feelings known. Quite aside from the outrage over charging £40 for a straight port of a 13-year-old game, fans are wondering whyRed Dead Redemptionstill hasn’t been announced forPC. Given thatRed Dead Redemption 2and a slew of otherRockstartitles are available viaSteam, it’s baffling that the original remains unavailable.
Fortunately, there is hope on the horizon for a PC port ofRed Dead Redemption.Speakingto IGN, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that whether or not we get a PC port is effectively up to the teams behind the game, which is a rather convenient way of shifting the blame when you quite literally run the company.
“It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form,” Zelnick explained when asked how they decide whether to re-release ports or go for remasters/remakes.
“We’ve done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers.”
