The PC port ofRockstar Games’hit 2010 Wild West epicRed Dead Redemptionfinally dropped on Steam a couple of days ago, and to absolutely nobody’s surprise it is receiving rave reviews.
Alright, well, I guess a little bit of surprise is in order, as there was always the chance that Rockstar could have messed up the port of a game that’s almost 15 years old (coughGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editioncough).
Red Dead Redemptionis currently sitting at a“Very Positive” score on Steamas of writing, with 92% of the 2000+ reviews ending up positive.

It’s also currently, as in right now, the 209th game with the most active players on Steam.
That might not sound that impressive on paper, but when you consider the fact a 14-year-old game is beating out the likes ofLife is Strange: Double Exposure(a new entry in a popular franchise that droppedon the same dayasRed Dead Redemption’sPC port) and is only one spot belowStarfield(which was probably the most hyped game of 2023 and just received a new DLC expansion) then… yeah, suddenly a lot more impressive.
Also, this game costs £39.99. That’s almost the price of a brand new AAA title - and the fanbase was pretty vocal about the fact that the price was far too high for a game that came out in 2010 prior to its release.

Personally, as much as I’d like to jump back into John Marston’s tale again, I’ve got enough new stuff to play for the time being so I’m gonna wait for that price to down a little first. Gotta say though,the modding communityis already making the purchase seem extra tempting…
