Resident Evil vibes abound in grim new photorealistic Unreal Engine 5 horror

To those suffering Ophidiophobia, you might want to skip this one. There’s a big snake and it’s not a very nice one either. To be fair, this is also a survival horror, so maybe you’re the exact audience the developer is going for.

As the game is calledDigested, and features a large snake - not just 20ft, but like, the size of a train - it’s clear that you’re going to spend much of this game running away and hoping you don’t end up in the gullet of the danger noodle.

Resident Evil has a lot to answer for with these new survival horror games

Digestedis a photorealistic horror made in Unreal Engine 5 and it’s givingResident Evilvibes with its world of claustrophobic forests and wooded areas. All viewed from body-cam footage, which gives the game an even more chaotic feel, the aim of the game is to avoid being eaten. It’s a very simple premise, but one that should work well.

The trend of running away from a massive creature is one I hope takes off. Just give us silly, scary games. I want massive spiders the size of a family hatchback; give me cockroaches as big as a helicopter; and wasps bigger than a 747 plane. Serial killers and slasher criminals have had their time in the moonlight, let’s embrace massive creatures who could gobble us down in seconds.
