Rick And Morty boss confirms ‘great’ Justin Roiland recasting

Rick and Morty’s new voice actors will be “great”, according to the show’s executive producer, who also confirmed that Justin Roiland’s former characters are being replaced with “soundalikes”.

Despite the charges being dropped, the show is still replacing Roiland, who beyond being its co-creator, also voiced the two titular characters (and a number of others). Now, as Polygonreports, executive producer Steve Levy spoke about the recasting process during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and confirmed that Roiland’s former characters won’t be portrayed any differently in season seven and beyond.

“It’s soundalikes. The characters are the same characters. No change,” Levy said. “We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast.”

He continued: “I do want to say it’s gonna be great. I am thoroughly impressed with everything that’s going on, including all the work on season seven. Truly, That’s the thing I don’t want to be overshadowed. Theshowis as good as it’s ever been.”

At the time of writing, it’s not known exactly when season seven ofRick and Mortywill hit screens, but Levy teased: “I think the best I can say is pretty dang soon.” According to him, all of the season seven episodes are “in the can”. In fact, some parts of season eight and nine have been written already, too. We’ll just have to watch this space for a trailer.
