The Simpsons Hit and Runfans are mourning after it was revealed the game originally had a few sequels attached.
The Simpsons has always been popular, but nothing quite compares to the craze of the late 90s and early 2000s, when the franchise was everywhere.

With that kind of success, a sequel would have been inevitable right?
If you need a touch of nostalgia, here are the best Simpsons games ever made.

“Gracie Films offered our publisher a deal to make three sequels,” wrote McGinn. “Some crazy person at the publisher [Vivendi] - we never found out who - said no.”
McGinn also explained the deal included no licensing fee, meaning the studio wouldn’t have had to pay for the rights to use the characters and voice actors.
Either way, we could have got three sequels to one of the best games likeGTAof our time. And that’s a kind of tragedy that fans of the game aren’t taking well.
“Damn that’s unfortunate to hear,”wroteone user on X (formerly Twitter). “Would love to see a sequel for this great game happen.”

“Imagine having enough power to make these decisions and being f***ing stupid enough to make this kind of a decision,”wroteanother.
It’s sad to see we haven’t really had a new Simpsons video game in a long time. The last one to hit consoles wasThe Simpsons Gamein 2007. There’sTapped Outat least, but even that will be going offline in January 2025.

As X user Shamaboywrites: “It baffles me that there have been no attempts to make decent Simpsons games again, considering they have a much bigger cult following compared to say SpongeBob games. But the latter is somehow getting new games that are built upon BFBB [Battle for Bikini Bottom], whileHit & Runis still left rotten.”
We’re holding out hope that a worthyHit & Runsuccessor comes along one day.
