Skyrimis edging closer to getting one of its most highly anticipated expansions in years with the fan-madeSkyblivion.
WhenThe Elder Scrolls V:Skyrimwas originally released in 2011 forPC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, I doubt that evenBethesdacould have predicted the huge success that it would become. Sure, Bethesda would have had high hopes for the title but 14 years later, the fantasy RPG is still going strong today.

Other than being ported to every console generation since its inception, one of the main reasons that this ever-popular entry inThe Elder Scrollsseries remains so vibrant is largely due to its very committed modding community.

Whether it’s visual and gameplay overhauls, bug fixes or the topic of today’s story, expansions, talentedSkyrimmodderscontinue to breathe new life into the beloved game.
One such mod is the massiveSkyblivionwhich began its production in 2016 and for those fans that have been potentially awaiting its arrival, that patience looks to be rewarded very soon.
In a recent developer diary video, it’s revealed that now we’re in 2025,Skyblivionis nearing its final year of development. The video also provides a detailed update on how the project is coming together including its world-building, quests, music and more.

“We’re finalising the world map, with only the Nibenay region on Cyrodiil’s eastern border left to complete,” announces the development team. “Massive swathes of the map are ready for the Hero of Kvatch to explore.”
The team also calls upon other talented modders to help bring this project to life and to improveSkyblivion’schances of releasing sooner rather than later. Details on how to volunteer your skills for the project can be found on its official website.
Sadly, despite the Xbox version ofSkyrimsupporting many mods via Bethesda’s Creation Club, due to the size ofSkyblivion, it is a PC exclusive.
