The new gameplay was shared via today’sXboxDeveloper Direct and gave us a closer look at the game’s exploration, questlines and more importantly the combat.

The combat will likely be the most interesting part to players, as it’s designed to cater to whatever playstyle you want your character to have. Like TheElder Scrolls, you’ll have access to an array of axes, swords, daggers and other sharp and pointy things. The magic is what seems most interesting though, as you swish and flick wands and cast spells to open more opportunities for attacking.

Players will also have a vast open world to explore where they’ll find challenging enemies, secrets to uncover and of course, NPCs in need of help. All in all, it looks like an updated version ofSkyrimbut on a larger scale.

Fans will undoubtedly know Obsidian Entertainment is the developer behind the critically-acclaimedFallout: New Vegas, and it was recently revealed the team was originally going to have a go at making an Elder Scrolls game as well before the idea was shelved.

Obsidian went on to basically make its own Fallout game,The Outer Worlds, and now it seems like it’s following the same principle for The Elder Scrolls withAvowed.

Nevertheless if you’re one of the thousands of fans waiting forThe Elder Scrolls VIto come out, you’ve got a long wait ahead of you. LuckilyAvowedwill release exclusively for Xbox Series X/S prior toBethesda’snext big release and hopefully it’ll scratch that Elder Scrolls itch fans have been struggling with for a while.
