The Game Awards 2023 has drawn to a close. While it was rather light on, well, actual awards, the Geoff Keighley-fronted showcase did include plenty of ‘world premieres’.
Take a look at the trailer forLight No Firebelow.
Light No Firehas been pitched as a planet-sized open world RPG. I did say it was ambitious. The official synopsisreads, “Light No Fireis a game about adventure, building, survival and exploration together. Set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth, it brings the depth of a role playing game to the freedom of a survival sandbox."

It’s set to be multiplayer so you can explore this colossal space with friends constructing enormous communities, or you can play it on your own and carve out your own path. Devs refer to the Earth-sized scale as something “never attempted before”, adding that the map will be densely filled with a variety of “immersive biomes”.
“Every mountain can be climbed, and below them lie endless vistas, oceans and continents perhaps no others have seen. Who will climb the tallest mountains, who will find the deepest sea?” Hello Games teases. Clearly, this game sounds phenomenal but let’s not forget what happened withNo Man’s Sky’s over-promising. The game is fantastic now, but that wasn’t the case upon release. Let’s just hope Hello Games learnt a few lessons.
