
Sony has struggled to set the right tone for its Marvel spinoffs.
Despite delivering entertainingSpider-Manmovies, its other attempts have been nothing short of disasters.
And even though films likeMadame Webare so bad they’re good, it’s not enough to saveSony.

Fortunately, all of the marks it’s missed have finally made enough of an impression that Sony is moving on to focus solely onSpider-Man 4.
We can all breathe a sigh of relief.
Seems rather apt that we share theKraven the Huntertrailer, no?

There’s beenMorbius, Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter(it’s already battling criticism and controversy before it’s been released), and, to some extent, the Venom trilogy.
“The biggest issue with the Sony Spider-Man spinoffs seems to be the lack of quality control. The movies just aren’t good,” they purportedly said.
“Sometimes that lack of quality meets a movie no one asked for, which was the case withMadame Weband that is a no-win scenario. It may be time for Sony to start cultivating different IPs to launch new franchises.”

Another source, this time a “talent agent”, apparently said that Sony has worked through the projects it was interested in pursuing and it’s now all “about the next Spider-Manfilm”.
Before panic sets in, Sony appears to still be interested in expanding on the Spider-Verse, thank goodness.
We might have jumped the gun with our criticisms ofKraven the Hunter, but such an outcome feels highly unlikely.
Even if it should surprise us all, Sony has seemingly made the wise decision to focus its efforts on what matters most: Spidey.
