According toPirat_Nation on Twitter, the original game is currently being decompiled and cracked open so that modders can get to the source code.
What this means is that we could see a nativePCversion of the game created, rather than a simple port or emulated experience.
The process is about 16% in, so it’ll still take some time but once completed it could lead to some great things.
This opportunity will not only mean that the game could run at high framerates with upscaled visuals, but modding will be possible, unleashing the imaginations of community creators across the world.

Fans have a huge soft spot for this classic, and while many rate the Dreamcast version above thePS1 version, the SEGA console’s software is a tough nut to crack.
The Twitter thread announcing the news is filled with replies from old-school players who playedSpider-Manback in the day and are eager to get their hands on the title again.
