
The originalSpyro The Dragonis one of the most beloved PlayStation classics there ever was, sitting firmly alongside the likes of Crash Bandicoot in the early 90s.
Since that time, the love for Spyro has grown ever more as it made its way onto other platforms as well asPlayStationfor even more fans to enjoy. However, it’s been quite some time since we’ve had the pleasure of enjoying a brand-new Spyro entry.

The last release of this beloved series wasSpyro Reignited Trilogyreleased in 2018 which included remasters of the original games that arrived on the PlayStation from 1998 to 2000. Yet, in terms of actual new games, we’d have to venture a decade prior to the remastered trilogy withThe Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragonin 2008.

So you can bet your bottom dollar that fans of the Spyro series are itching for a new game and when you consider that we’ve not had a new one in 15 years, I think it’s fair to say that its release is well overdue. Thankfully, however, it seems that those patient fans may be about to get their wish.

The website apparently details that the new game will be calledSpyro 4: Mystery of the Dragon. While there have, of course, been multiple Spyro games sinceSpyro 3: Year Of The Dragon, the 4 in the new title implies a back-to-basics approach similar toCrash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
What’s more, it is rumoured that an announcement trailer will be revealed on 5 October 2023 andSpyro 4will be released onPC, PlayStation 5 andXboxSeries X|S. Obviously, at this time, these rumours are unconfirmed, so we should take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
Back in April 2023, aSpyro 4 tease was spotted onlineand it sent fans wild. So hopefully, when we combine previous rumours and the most recent, there will be no smoke without fire and publisherActivisionwill put us all out of our misery soon with an official announcement arriving in the coming weeks.
