A fan-made Spyro game shows us exactly why everyone’s favourite video game dragon needs to return.
Despite his overwhelming popularity, Spyro The Dragon hasn’t had a new game in years now.

His most recent adventures includeSpyro Reignited Trilogy, a gorgeous remake of thePlayStation1 games. He’s also been a prominent figure in the Skylanders series if you’d want to count that

Apart from those titles though, there’s been no news ona true sequel or reboot. It’s certainly an odd choice considering Activision released theCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and followed it up withCrash Bandicoot4: It’s About Time.
Xboxfans are now hoping thecompany’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzardcould now lead to new Spyro, and Crash, sequelsexclusively made for the Xbox Series X/S.
In the meantime, there are several dedicated Spyro fans who’ve taken matters into their own hands, one of which has created a fan concept for an all-new game calledSpyro: Explore The Dragonverse.

For a fan-made title, it’s got all the makings of a proper Spyro The Dragon game, and reiterates the need for Activision to make a new one.
There are whispers that aSpyro The Dragon 4gameis being made in the same style ofCrash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Unfortunately nothing can be confirmed at the time of writing but given Xbox’s dire need of exclusive games, it’d make sense for it to take full advantage of Activision’s IPs and push for sequels.
You never know, maybe it’ll be a nice surprise announcement at The Game Awards next month…
