Many kids my age grew up watching the Star Wars movie and with them being rated 12 or PG-13, it was an accessible way to get into the world of sci-fi films.
Although I was more of aHarry Pottergirl, many of my peers were hugeStar Warsfans when I was growing up and the movies have gone on to become a cornerstone of many people’s childhoods.

According to a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast, Filoni is open to exploring the Star Wars universe across all age ratings.
When asked about an R-rated Star Warsmovie, hesaid: “Sure, I mean, I don’t know. It’s interesting. The bottom line is, whatever we do it has to be really well done. When you look atsomething that’s taken as different, likeAndor, it’s so well done. I think that there’s an audience for that.
I think also with that audience, I want to still be hitting the imagination of the kids out there, so they can grow up and appreciate those things.”
Filoni went on to explain how he believes all current and future Star Wars creatives should infuse their own voices into an adaptation, instead of mimicking the franchise’s creator, George Lucas.

“I think that it encompasses all types of styles, and the creatives of these particular stories driving it is kind of the most important thing, and they should do something that’s within their comfort zone. Otherwise, just imagine that everyone’s gonna come and pretend that they’re George Lucas, and they’re not.”
It remains to be seen if there will ever be an R-rated Star Wars movie but it will definitely create a different feel to the original and classic films.
