To clarify this is a different story fromThe Battle of Jakku- Insurgency Rising, which is still set to drop in October. For those unaware, the entireBattle Of Jakkuseries is set directly afterStar Wars: Return of the Jedi.
This isn’t some undefined period of time in between the original trilogy of films andDisney’ssequel trilogy, like much of Disney’s Star Wars TV shows have been set in, but it is instead set immediately afterReturn of the Jediconcludes.
This is following a recently concluded series of comics that was set in betweenThe Empire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jedi, which included the well-received titleStar Wars: Darth Vader.
Inthe press releasefor the new series, Marvel promises that the new series will explain exactly what happened during the pivotal battle on Jakku that was first introduced inStar Wars: The Force Awakens.

“Our story will be epic in scope”, said Alex Segura, “involving all the major characters you love, plus some new, exciting additions to the mythos.”
“We’ll not only give readers a front-row seat to the final battle of the Galactic Civil War - we’ll reframe the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and introduce a new, menacing threat that will keep our heroes guessing.”
