Star Wars fans don’t often agree, but on one thing they seem to be united - the return of Darth Maul inStar Wars: The Clone Warswas brilliant.
Despite being cut in half at the end ofStar Wars: The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul actually returns in a very interesting and authentic way.
He also has the agency to return as his vendetta againstObi-Wan Kenobiis fully stoked, which adds a great narrative to why he struggled to survive and make a comeback.

This return wasdiscussed on Reddit, and everyone agrees that Darth Maul’s comeback was a stroke of genius.
ComradeDreadstarts off the replies with, “I’m happy with how his story turned out if only for the end with Kenobi inRebelsand you come to see him not as the monster he became but the victim of Sidious he also was.”
Another Redditoragrees and says, “After Darth Maul’s on-screen death, he became one of the most complex villains and there are tons of great stories centred on him so I’m super happy he survived being cut in half.”

Darth Maul was severely underused inThe Phantom Menacebut he ended up being one of the greatest villains inStar Warshistory.
Perhaps due to being a focus in a TV show, and therefore getting more time to shine, he became complex and had more layers than being ‘just a bad guy.’
“One of the few coming back from the dead stories that worked. It was a bit of a stretch, but it went into the power of hatred and the dark side that allowed him to live,”saidLogical-Witness-3361.
