It feels like one of those bad relationships where you’re on again, off again, but now it looks like things are most certainly off as it’s been confirmed that theStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicremake has been cancelled.
The trailer had fans excited that they’d get to play one of the best Star Wars games of all time.
The writing was on the wall some months ago when Sony began erasing any mentions of theStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicremake from their social media feeds. They also took down trailers from their YouTube channel. At the time,Sonycommented saying that it was due to music licensing, but it felt more like the game had been canned.

Now, Jeff Grubb has commented on the project stating that nobody is currently working on the game and Sony has completely cut all ties to the project. What Grubb said is likely true given all the recent discussion on the game, and it’s a sad affair to see one of the best upcomingStar Warsprojects thrown in the trash.
Of course, we never say never. Disney could approach another developer and look to publish it, however Disney haven’t been overly forthcoming with projects made before their purchase of the Star Wars brand.
Knights of the Old Republicis one of the bestStar Warsgames created. It’s one of the best RPGs created, in fact. The original game put players within the Star Wars universe and gave them the tools to live out a brilliant story full of the stereotypes that world comes with. Hopefully we will one day get to go back to that galaxy far, far away.
