Star Wars fans roast new trilogy announcement

There’s a brand newStar Warstrilogy in the works, and it took the collective internet about 0.3 seconds to conclude thatDisneyhas already screwed the new project up.

Now to be fair toStar Warsfans, this kind of response isn’t exactly unearned. Whatever you think of the recent lot ofStar Wars films and TV show, it’s more than fair to say that Disney have kind of just been haphazardly cobbling together whatever they think might work.

And since then, it sort of feels like Disney have just been throwing new stuff out there in a bid to see what works and what doesn’t… and the new trilogy announcement seems like much of the same.

In a threadover on r/StarWars titled “Star Wars Trilogy Deal: Lucasfilm Taps Simon Kinberg To Write & Produce”, every single comment is taking aim at Disney for its awful mismanagement of the franchise.

“I can’t wait to hear nothing else about this project for two years,”replied obert-wan-kenobert, “until we get the big exciting update that Kinberg has left and LucasFilm is searching for a new writer!”

This commentfrom a user called PopsicleIncorporated probably put it best though: “This guy wrote X-Men 3 AND Dark Phoenix. Gonna be real this scares me a little”

“He had two attempts at the Dark Phoenix saga and f*cked up both times lol”stated handsome22492in response.

Look, I’m not saying Simon Kinberg hasn’t written good stuff. He’s produced some good/decent scripts in his time, likeX-Men: Days of Future Past, the 2009 adaptation ofSherlock Holmes, and he even wrote theStar Wars: RebelsTV show.

But this guy has missed way more than he’s hit. You know what else he’s written? The 2015 filmFantastic Four. Yeah, THATFantastic Fourmovie.
