Star Wars fans slam ‘dumb’ Emperor Palpatine plot twist

I think we can all agree that bringing back Palpatine was a nail in the coffin for Star Wars. For so many of us, we watchedStar Wars: Rise of Skywalkerand were left feeling annoyed or empty.

Star Wars is back on consoles and PC withStar Wars Outlawsand we loved it

In a post summed up simply, onemananswerfactory said, “Palpatine surviving is dumb, regardless of the plausibility. His death signified how Anakin recrossed the line to the light and redemption is a thing in Star Wars.”

For a lot of Star Wars fans, the return of ol’ Palps was at base, extremely stupid, and at most, a complete write-off of what came before.

The post continues, “Having him survive significantly diminishes the impact of Anakin’s arc.”

Redditor frodakairesponded, “Billion dollar franchise and they couldn’t string together anything more coherent than a bunch of loosely linked set pieces.”

The return of Palpy was loosely based on the Legends story of Darth Lich, but Disney seemed to just get it all wrong.

SatyrSatyr75sums this idea upvery well, “If you want to go all Lich, that’s ok … But it should be a story about villains who try to bring back Palpatine as Darth Lich, because they read, that was a thing in the old Sith empire … it’s not so much about the idea, but about the storytelling.”

Let’s be honest, if this was Snoke’s plan and it was set up well, it would have worked. In fact, it would have been brilliant.

Snoke comes up inthis replyfrom charlieto0human, “I was really hoping to see some new breed of sith or dark Jedi in the new trilogy. Snoke was initially very intriguing and ominous.”

Yeah, after the years have passed, this twist is still rubbish.
