This year sawThe Acolytearrive and well… depart not soon after with the Star Wars show unfortunately cancelled after just one season.
With fans disappointed over its lack of renewal, they will at least be pleased to know that some of its characters are back in an upcoming prequel story.
First airing back in June,The Acolytewas aStar WarsDisney+ show that told the story of a former Padawan reunited with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes across the galaxy.

Taking place first chronologically in the Star Warsseries, the show’s events took place over one hundred years beforeStar Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.
Despite its apparent success, its viewer count did not live up to expectations and the show was not renewed for a second season.
However, some of its standout characters are back with an exciting upcoming prequel.

Discussed at last week’s New York Comic-Con, the young-adult novel will take place a few years before the events ofThe Acolyteand will be titledThe Crystal Crown.
Scheduled to release in July 2025,The Crystal Crownwas hinted at earlier this year afterAcolytefans asked its show creator, Leslye Headland, if we would ever see more Yord and Jecki in the future.
“Yeah, definitely,” Headland revealed.
“Pablo Hidalgo and I have talked about that, and since wrapping up the season, there’s definitely some stuff that I would love to see come to fruition.

Yord Fandar, I’ve said this before, was a character in a campaign that I played, so there’s a pretty large backstory to him.
But yeah, it was always the plan to kill them in Episode 5 halfway through the season.
So, it was kind of fun to think about them a lot and then think, ‘Well, because we didn’t spend a lot of time with them, maybe there’s a way we could keep playing around with them somehow.’”
Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crownis set to be published in July 2025.
