
Just when you thought thatStar Wars Outlawscouldn’t get any more promising, its creative director has confirmed that the devs are making a conscious effort to ensure that the game has the same vibe and style of the original Star Wars film trilogy.
From its official reveal last month, we knew that the story of scoundrel Kay Vess will take place somewhere between the events ofThe Empire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jedi. However, as PlayStation LifeStylereports, in a new interview withEdge Magazine, creative directorJulian Gerightystated that the studio truly “wanted to emulate that feel” of the first three movies.

In order to achieve this, the devs have incorporated subtle “vignetting, film grain, lens breathing, the curvature of a thicker lens, [and] the slight lens flares” - all features reminiscent of a 1970s camera. The devs have also been careful to ensure that the technology Kay Vess uses feels like it could have been plucked from the set of one of theoriginal trilogyfilms.

Is anyone else currently running back to that gameplay reveal to see if they can spot any of those nuances themselves? If Ubisoft pulls this off,Outlawssounds like it has the potential to be a dream come true for Star Wars fans.
It was also recently confirmed thatnone ofOutlaws’ enormous planets will be procedurally generated- each one will be handcrafted. Currently, we don’t know how manyplanetswill be included in the game - so far, fans think that they’ve spotted four or five of them in the trailers.
