The Star Wars universe has already been explored quite substantially, both in TV and film.
Yet, thisStar WarsEpisode I: The Phantom Menaceprequel intends to go even further back.
We learnt a couple of years ago that a new Star Warsfilmwas in the works, however, we were given few other details beyond its existence and title.

Now, its director, James Marigold, has revealed greater insight intoDawn of the Jedi.

During aninterviewwith MovieWeb, Marigold spoke of the upcoming film’s setting, and how it’s important to “make something new”.

As we know, however, the fandom doesn’t always take too kindly to innovation – we’ve seen that in howSkeleton Crewhas been treated, and the cancellation ofThe Acolyte.
Still, Marigold is hopeful.
What is more, his plans for the movie are intriguing.
“The Star Wars movie would be taking place 25,000 years before any known Star Wars movies takes place,” the director explained.

This means we’ll venture into unchartered waters; how very exciting.
We need to rein in our excitement though, for there’s not even a rough estimation of when the film will be released.
That said, we can hazard a guess that it’ll be several years before we’re booking cinema tickets to seeDawn of the Jedi.

In the meantime, we have the second season ofAndorand Visions Vol. 3to look forward to this year.
It’s a meagre offering, some would argue, but we’d rather the odd tasty morsel than a feast that delivers nothing of substance.
